Shiva guru-ji is a native Indian from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Naturally gifted with a very flexible body he started learning with a local teacher, Dinesh Sarma who undertook his training from the age of 14. He has been practicing  yoga for 22 years with the greatest teachers in Ashtang, Hatha, Raj and Kriya yoga.

His gurus include the 1990 gold medalist, Nursingh Gha Mishra from Baliyajila, UP, and the world champion, Delhi University teacher, Balmukund Singh. Under their supervision he won at the age of 18 the 2nd prizes two national Indian yogassana championships in Karnataka in 1991 and Orissa in 1992.

Also he learned meditation techniques with Dr Rakesh Yogi, Ph.D. (Yoga), a renown meditation expert and Yoga therapist working for Yogayatan International.

He started teaching yoga in local schools for children, women, old people as preventive and curative therapy from 1994. His daily practice on the ghats of Varanasi always attracted the attention of westerners passing by.

He slowly decided to share his knowledge with foreign students including many yoga teachers from 2007.
